Have you read the best book ever?

The greatest gift in the modern world is to have a peace of mind.

Well you read the title, any guesses about the best book ever?

YOU. Yes YOU. Well I am not a book Sunny!

Have you not heard in movies that every person is like a book that can be read so how come you cannot read yourself?

So how can we read ourselves?

By observing and noticing ourself. By understanding ourself.

When you buy any electronic appliance, it comes with a user-guide but there’s no user-guide to this life. There are some according to society but those are very old and not fully relevant to a free mind especially if what you are seeking is truth.

So how to understand ourself? By understanding our reactions. Why are you behaving a certain way? Are they coming from attachment? Are the coming from self-inflicted suffering?

Another major part is understanding our desires. Are they worth pursuing? Are they truly your desires or are they coming from jealousy or are they coming from just watching social media? (a big one in this modern world)

Most of you are old enough where you had different desires at different time of your lives.

When I was 17, I was trying hard to get into a college in US.

When I was 21, I was trying hard to get a job.

Now I am 28 and I am trying really hard to quit my job.

I know priorities change and so do humans which is understandable but how many times are we going for completely wrong desires. How many times our desires are based out of jealousy, social media or our peers?

So before you start pursuing your desires, take a few deep breaths and ask yourself, what is the source of these desires? Are these desires really mine and are they really worth pursuing?

Desires are not bad, a lot of schools of thoughts point that desires are bad. No they are not. But having too many desires in not good either. I deal with having too many desires too.

The best way is to have a fewer desires and work on them rather than bopping from one to another.

This is what I mean by understanding ourself. This is just an example but you learn more about yourself when you carefully analyze your desires, judgements and reactions.

The more you get to know yourself, the more inner peace you build, which ultimately leads to a happy state of being. You stop blaming other people for your problems and suffering.

Modern world is full of distractions. The greatest gift in the modern world is to have a peace of mind.

Happiness is just not absence of suffering but also having the self-knowledge of where the suffering is coming from?

Life is ever changing and evolving. How can we organize every human being according to a pattern? Each and every one of us is unique, we have different desires, habits, traumas, so our manuals will be different as well right? The best manual is your own self-knowledge.

Having self-accountability, self-control and self-reliance which leads to self-knowledge.
